  • It's always a good day when @joythebaker stops by. Thanks for sharing food stories, sipping tea, strolling the property, and playing with our Wild child. Safe travels on your southern road trip, and beyond!!!
  • Was weeding the patio and looked up to find this little gnome picking daffodils.
  • Follow the red brick road? Indeed I did.
  • The best part of @fernworks and @killaspro traveling to Southeast Asia in January? The Thai food cooking kick they've been on since their return. Still thinking about these crazy delicious wings @fernworks made last night (using the recipe from @pokpokpdx). Thanks for having us over, buddies!
  • Back at home but missing this sight, from #selbygardens.
  • Family, gardens, and sea creatures are what characterized our time in Florida. I could stare at these exquisite jellyfish all day.
  • Nothing could be finer than to be back in North Carolina. Missed these mountains something fierce!
  • A late winter trip to Florida was exactly what we three Englishes needed, but we are glad to be headed back home to greet the spring in the magical mountains of western North Carolina.
  • Something wicked this way comes. At the Magic Kingdom. First time here as a parent. At Huxley's request, went on the Haunted Mansion ride first. Let the good times roll!
  • Surfside in Sarasota at the in-law's lovely home, light breeze, good reads, good times. Next, on to my dad's place in Tampa. Florida, you're doing good. Reeeeeeeeal good.
  • Rollin in the deep. Sarasota, you've been grand.
  • The tiny bird whisperer strikes again.

What I’m Digging

IMG_3781

Happy Friday, friends! And Happy Solstice! Hooray for the return of the light!

It’s crazy windy here this morning-55 mph wind gust crazy. When you live in an 11-acre forested cove, those kind of wind gusts can wreak some serious havoc. We’ve already lost power twice this morning, so I’m going to keep today’s round-up short and sweet.

I’ve got a Small Measures post up today on Design Sponge. I’m sharing my recipe for homemade chocolate mint patties. Oh. Yeah.

Here’s a smattering of this’s and that’s that caught my attention this week:

*Amy’s winter flowers. Breathtakingly beautiful.
*DIY stamped scarf=great last-minute handmade gift idea.
*I could easily live here, you know, forever.
*Excited for Modern Farmer.
*This eco builder would be wonderful for a (one day) renovation.
*Kate’s holiday drink recipes all sound heavenly.

We’re hosting another get-together for Handmade Gatherings (my newest book, due Spring 2014 from Roost) out here tomorrow evening. The theme is Winter Wonderland. It’s going to be a stunner, folks. A stunner!

Wherever you go this weekend, whatever you do, and whomever you do it with, may it be grand!

*Each Friday I post a photo of Huxley here because, truly, he’s what his Papa and I dig the most.

Oh I wish I could come to your handmade gathering! We are having a solstice gathering of our own out here tonight- so excited! Thanks for the link- I’m interested in what Modern Farmer is going to produce. How it will look different from my favorite stand bys. Also- that home! Can I live in the out building?!?
