  • Hope you all have had a wonderful Thanksgiving. @glennbenglish, Huxley, and I enjoyed an epic potluck feast at home this afternoon with friends and family. So much abundance, today and in the past year. Feeling much gratitude to be able to spend my days doing what I love, with those I love! Big hugs and kisses to you all!!!
  • YOU GUYS!!! Our friends @rattiganjael and @daniel.rattigan are rocking the chocolate food scene, yet again. They just moved their fantastic @frenchbroadchocolates to a new larger, even lovelier space, smack dab in the middle of downtown. We stopped in this evening for the soft opening, to see the space and sample offerings both familiar (coconut brownies that dreams are made of!) and new (ice cream! toffee! pretzel caramels!). There's even an entire separate boutique room called

  • When @bakerhands put out a call two days ago asking for a few hours of baking help today, I pounced at the chance to spend some quality time with such a warm, wise lady. When I found out @rorris and @jenathan had offered the same thing, the deal became even sweeter. The four of us gathered at Smoke Signals Bakery in Marshall today to chat, chew, and chop. Three cheers for wonderful people, delicious food, and fostering community. Hip, hip, freaking HOORAY!!! What a stellar day. *I was in charge of apple pie filling prep today. Pies In My Skies

Happy Wednesday, friends! Today I’m ridiculously, overwhelmingly, and every other superlative ending in -ly excited to share with you a little teaser from my new book, A Year of Pies. I’ve worked with photographer Lynne Harty on all five of my books with Lark Crafts. Doesn’t she do an incredible job?

It officially publishes next week, on August 7th. Many of you sweet people that pre-ordered copies (you. people. are. the. best!) have already written, expressing your pleasure with it. Which, really, is what all of my books are about. They’re for you. They’re for me, of course, but, ultimately, they’re for everyone else to enjoy, to learn from, to have fun with, and to make the days of our dear lives better. I know that sounds lofty and grandiose but, well, it’s true! Everything I do, I do so that others can enrich their lives.

The books have garnered some national press already, too. You can check out a bit of buzz here:

Boston Globe

Wall St. Journal

Also, two lovely blogs are hosting giveaways of the book. Find them here:

Food In Jars

Craft Gossip

Thank you so very much for your support, everyone. Look for recipes, giveaways, and profiles of the bloggers that generously offered up guest recipes over the next few weeks! Let’s all get our pie on!!!

As a friend first and fellow author second, I congratulate you on your success! I’ve watched you grow through the years and so proud of all you are accomplishing. There is more in the sky for you than pies, darlin’ but this is a wonderful new book for sure. Let me know if you want to share blog posts. I love to support other authors, especially those as special as you.
    Love, Deborah

I am one of those lucky people who has already ordered and received (!) my copy of A Year of Pies via Amazon! I can’t say enough about how much I love the artsy layout and all the amazing & mouthwatering photos! I haven’t tried any of the recipies yet cause I’m so darn excited to flip through and enjoy the book. I’m getting hungry just thinking about it. ;-)

Feeling so lucky to have “discovered” your pie book. Instantly purchased one for my pie-loving-friend’s upcoming bday. Wanted the pages of her gift to remain crisp and unopened looking…but I just couldn’t help myself. I started by just peeking half-way into the book, not fully opening the pages…but with my oooos and ahhhhs, I succumbed to the temptation of your unusual, creative recipes and beautiful picutres which lured me into opening the pages *all the way*, creasing them even! So I’ve ordered a second book from amazon…as I will be keeping the first copy for me!

  • Barb says:

I ordered your pie book for a prize at our upcoming pie contest; the timing is perfect. I cannot wait to see it. Congratulations, Pie Queen!!!

  • Karen says:

I just ordered this book off your blog. Is this the next edition coming out on the 7th? Either way, I’m excited to gift it to a friend who LOVES pies who just happens to be goting through a very rough patch right now. I think this will cheer her up a little bit. I think making the pies may cheer her up a lot more.

  • Apseed says:

Congratulations! I love your books and how you write them. It’s like a constant conversation with you. You are a very inspiring person!

I’m so scared of making pies. I’ll most definitely have to get your book. I wanted to every picture! Congratulations!

  • This book looks delicious.
